We awoke to beautiful clear skies and a bright Californian sun on our third and final day of our journey down to LA…as well as two ladies standing next to Clementine having their photo taken. We were somewhere south of Sacramento with rolling ,vacant brown hills on one side and flatlands as far as the eye can see on the other. Cherry trees were abundant. Clementine, our beloved VW camper was doing an outstanding job. She is a workhorse and has been treating us very well on our first trip altogether.
Day one found us driving through Washington state and parts of Oregon where it was windy as hell. It’s amazing how much Clementine catches the wind…we worked with her though. We got a few waves and smiles of approval along the road as some people seem to appreciate our bright orange classic Westy as much as we do. Our second morning we found ourselves in the middle of beautiful green hills with a bounty of vegetation and farms….we were in Oregon, somewhere south of Eugene. It was a spectacular day driving from Oregon to California. Oregon is gorgeous. The sun shone as we puttered through desert-like hills, green peaks and mountains of 4000 ft. The scenery and weather made the long day of driving an easy one. Snow capped Mount Shasta was a highlight with its beautiful peak of 14000 ft; its presence couldn’t helped to be felt. California dreamin’ no longer – here we are….
